Museo etrusco, BientinaThe Etruscan Museum of Bientina is housed in the sixteenth century building of the church deconsecrated by San Girolamo. It opened in 1999 and contains a series of artefacts which have been discovered in the last sixty years in the area surrounding the old Lake (or Swamp) of Bientina.

Some of the objects on display are Etruscan amphoras, 'bucchero nero' (black lustre) and red varnish ceramics, parts of necklaces, fibulas (or brooches), pins and earrings and elements of the funeral garb of a tomb found during the swamp reclamation works.

Notes
The museum may be visited on Sunday from 10.00 to 12.00 and the 4th Sunday of every month also in the afternoon from 16.00 to 18.00, in conjunction with the antiquarian market.

How to get there by car
From Pisa: take the motorway (S.G.C. Firenze-Pisa-Livorno) and take the Pontedera exit, then follow the SS439 (national road) towards Lucca, then take the turning for Bientina
